This Privacy Policy explains how Aidvio collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you visit aidvio.org, contact us, or make a donation through a campaign page.
1. Who we are
Aidvio is a humanitarian support initiative that publishes fundraising campaigns and connects supporters with secure online payment options. Aidvio does not claim registered-charity status unless verified registration details are expressly published on the website.
Questions about this Policy or your personal information can be sent through our Contact Us page.
2. Information we may collect
Information you provide
- Contact information: your name, email address, optional phone number, subject, message, and any consent acknowledgement submitted through our contact form.
- Donation information: donation amount, currency, frequency, campaign selected, payment status, and payer or receipt details that Stripe makes available to us.
- Correspondence: messages and supporting information you send when asking a question, requesting a correction, reporting a problem, or requesting a refund.
Payment information
Payments are processed by Stripe. Aidvio does not receive or store your full card number, card security code (CVC), or online-banking password. Stripe processes payment data under its own terms and privacy practices. See the Stripe Privacy Policy.
Technical and usage information
When you use the website, our hosting, security, analytics, and payment systems may process information such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, referral information, timestamps, cookie identifiers, and security logs.
Meta donation measurement
After Stripe verifies that a Checkout Session is complete and paid, our website may send Meta a Donate conversion event containing the verified amount, currency, a generic campaign identifier, and technical browser information used for measurement and fraud prevention. We do not intentionally send full payment-card details, private donation messages, or beneficiary medical details to Meta. Meta handles information under the Meta Privacy Policy.
3. Why we use information
We may use personal information to:
- respond to enquiries and provide requested support;
- process, verify, record, and acknowledge donations;
- associate a verified donation with the correct campaign;
- prevent fraud, abuse, duplicate reporting, and security incidents;
- handle refund requests, disputes, accounting, and legal obligations;
- measure campaign performance and improve the website; and
- protect Aidvio, donors, beneficiaries, and the public.
4. Legal grounds
Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we rely as appropriate on: taking steps you request or providing a requested service; our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the website; your consent for non-essential cookies or similar technology where consent is required; and compliance with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent at any time, without affecting earlier lawful processing.
5. Cookies and similar technology
The website and its service providers may use essential cookies for security, site operation, and payment flow. Stripe may use cookies or similar technology on its checkout service. Meta technology may receive browser or device information when donation measurement is used.
Where applicable law requires consent, non-essential advertising or measurement technology should be used only after valid consent. You can also control cookies through your browser and any consent controls displayed on the website. Blocking some cookies may affect payment or website functions.
6. When information is shared
We may share relevant information only as needed with:
- Stripe and other payment providers;
- Meta for verified donation measurement, where permitted;
- website hosting, security, email, and technical service providers;
- professional advisers when reasonably necessary; and
- courts, regulators, law-enforcement bodies, or other parties when required by law or necessary to protect rights and safety.
Aidvio does not sell personal information.
7. International processing
Some providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we and our providers use recognised safeguards for international transfers, subject to the provider’s applicable terms and privacy documentation.
8. How long information is kept
Contact enquiries are generally retained for up to 24 months after the last meaningful interaction, unless a longer period is needed. Donation, refund, accounting, fraud-prevention, and security records may be kept for as long as reasonably required to meet legal, financial, dispute, or safety obligations. Information is deleted or anonymised when it is no longer needed.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect personal information. No website or internet transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Never send card numbers, CVCs, passwords, or one-time verification codes through our contact form.
10. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability; to withdraw consent; and to complain to a local data-protection authority. Rights may be subject to legal exceptions.
To make a request, use our Contact Us page and provide enough information for us to verify and respond to the request. We may ask for proportionate identity verification.
11. Children
Aidvio does not knowingly ask a child under 16 to submit personal information or donate without appropriate involvement from a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has provided personal information improperly, please contact us.
12. External links
Campaign pages may link to Stripe or other third-party websites. Their services are governed by their own policies, and Aidvio is not responsible for their independent practices.
13. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy when our services, providers, or legal obligations change. The updated version will be posted here with a revised date.
14. Contact
For privacy questions or requests, please use the Aidvio Contact Us page.
